Born in 1894 in Budapest, Hungary he studied in Paris under Lucien Simone. He studied paintings by Renoir, Claude Monet, and Degas. Fried specialized in portraits. Among his subjects were Will Rogers and Senator Herbert H. Lehman. He came to the U.S. in 1946. He passed away at the age of 82 at his home at 1737 York Avenue, New York City on March 7, 1976.*
